Happy Spring Break!
I’ve been taking this week to explore places I’ve never been before, prep for my senior recital, and generally just relax before the hailstorm of midterms and rehearsals I’ll be thrown into once we’re back in school. In all the craziness of last week, I forgot to mention that I’ve begun posting recordings of my first experiments with electronic music and sound art. Here’s a brief rundown on each one, along with links to other places where you can learn more about them:
- Don’t Tell is the first work in what will assuredly be a much larger project addressing rape culture and sexual assault. This piece zooms in on the negative effects of victim blaming, throwing you into the mind of an assault victim struggling to cope. - Liar, Liar is a track I composed for SCI’s latest concert at ASU, QUANTUM SOUNDS. The concert was a collaboration between SCI and the School of Earth and Space Exploration; we wrote the music, they flew us through the galaxy with the state-of-the-art 3D planetarium technology in Marston Theatre. This track was originally mixed for 5.1 audio, but you can listen to it in stereo here.
- Tipping Point is part of the sound design I did for Tess Galbiati’s show, You Can’t Cry While Drinking (Coffee). As one of the most emotionally charged parts of the production, it was one of my favorite parts of the show to work on.
